긍휼(자비)와 은혜란 Mercy & Grace
Mercy withholds the knife from the heart of Isaac.
Grace provides a ram in the thicket. (Gen. 22:11-14)
자비는 이삭의 심장에서 칼을 거두어 들이며
은혜는 수풀에 있는 숫양을 제공하는 것입니다. (창 22:11-14)
Mercy runs to forgive the prodigal.
Grace throws a party with a robe, a ring, and a fatted calf. (Lk. 15:20-24)
자비는 탕자를 용서하려고 달려가며
은혜는 좋은 옷, 반지, 살진 송아지로 잔치를 베푸는 것입니다. (눅 15:20-24)
Mercy hears the cry of the thief on the cross.
Grace promises paradise that very day. (Lk. 23:39-43)
자비는 십자가에 달린 한 강도의 울부짖음을 듣는 것이며,
은혜는 그 날에 낙원을 약속하는 것입니다. (눅 23:39-43)
Mercy converts Paul on the road to Damascus.
Grace calls him to be the great apostle. (Acts. 9:1-6, 17)
자비는 다마스커스 도상에서 바울을 회심시키는 것이며,
은혜는 그를 위대한 사도로 부르는 것입니다. (행 9:1-16, 17)
Mercy closes the door to hell.
Grace opens the door to heaven. (Eph. 2:8-9)
자비는 지옥의 문을 닫으며,
은혜는 천국의 문을 여는 것입니다. (엡 2:8-9)
And the difference between mercy and grace is this…
그리고 자비와 은혜의 차이는 이것입니다…
Mercy withholds from us what we deserve.
Grace gives us what we do not deserve.
자비는 우리가 마땅히 받아야 할 것을 받지 않는 것이며,
은혜는 우리가 마땅히 받을 수 없는 것을 받는 것입니다.
